Fujian Petrochemical Company Ltd. (FPCL) is a large scale petrochemical enterprise, which is a 50%:50% joint between Fujian Petrochemical Industrial Group Company Ltd. and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec). FPCL is located in Quangang District, Quanzhou City, Fujian province. FPCL formerly known as Fujian refinery, was founded in January 1989, completed start-up in September 1993 and reorganized as a limited liability company in December 1995. After the expansion in May 1997, FPCL’s annual capacity was enhanced from the original 2.5 million tons to 4 million tons. By the end of August 2009, after the successful commissioning of Fujian Refining and Ethylene Integrated Project, FPCL has a production scale of 12Mt/a refinery, 800Kt/a steam cracker, 800Kt/a PE, 400Kt/a PP and 700Kt/a aromatics. FPCL has already accumulatively processed 56,100,000 tons crude oil since the completion and start-up in 1993 to the end of 2009.

FPCL has two joint venture companies. FPCL, ExxonMobil China Petroleum & Petrochemical Company Ltd. and Saudi Aramco Sino Company Ltd. jointly invested USD 4,963 million in the proportion of 50％:25％:25% respectively to establish Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Company Ltd. (FREP) on June, 2007. FPCL and Linde Gas (H.K.) Limited jointly invested in the proportion of 50%: 50% respectively to establish Fujian Linde-FPCL Gases Co.,Ltd., which officially launched on September, 2008. It provides gas sources to FREP. At the same time, FPCL launched the early preparatory work for the newly-built 12Mt/a refining project.
