Sinopec Jinan Company （formerly Jinan Refinery）was founded in 1971, put into production in 1975 and incorporated into Sinopec Group in 1983. By separating its supporting business from core business in August, 2000 according to the Group’s restructuring strategy, the core business of the Company was incorporated into Sinopec Corp. and renamed Sinopec Jinan Company (Jinan Company in brief). 

Jinan Company is located in Lixia District of Jinan City, Shandong Province, with Taishan mountain to the south and Yellow River to the north. It is located between Shengli Oil Field and Zhongyuan Oil Field, and has a private railway connecting JiNan-Qingdao Railway. Jinan Company enjoys a convenient and strategic location with Jinan-Qingdao expressway to the north, Jinan-Wangcun road to the south, Jinan-Laiwu expressway and Jinan-Guangzhou expressway to the east. Crude oil is transported to the plant by two transmission lines (namely Line 325 and Line 377) and the products are transported out by product transmission lines (namely LuwanⅠ and LuwanⅡ) or by train. Moreover, a natural gas transmission line will be completed soon. All above facilitate convenient and swift production organization. 

Through 40 years’ of development, Jinan Company has evolved from a crude oil transfer station to a large integrated oil refining and petrochemical company with crude oil processing capacity of 5 million tpa. Fix assets of the Company reached RMB 5.1 billion, covering an area of 2.4 square kilometers. Jinan Company has more than 30 sets of refining and petrochemical production units, which produce more than 50 kinds of products including gasoline, kerosene, diesel, LPG, propylene, polypropylene, asphalt, sulfur, petroleum coke, chemical light oil, lubricating base oil, etc. The products repeatedly won prizes at provincial and ministerial level for high quality. The Company passed ISO9000 quality system authentication in January, 1999 and took the lead to pass GB/T19001-2000 quality system authentication in 2001 among the refining and petrochemical companies in China. 

Jinan Company has paid great attention to scientific and technological innovation and has been persisting in pushing technological advancement by technological development and upgrading, focusing on self-development. For many years, Jinan Company won 32 items of scientific and technological advancement prizes from the state, the ministry or the province. Among them, there are 2 items of first prize from the state; 1 item of grand prize, 4 items of first prizes, 13 items of second prizes and 11 items of third prizes from the ministry; and 1 item of third prize from the province. Jinan Company has completed successfully the Group’s major R&D programs for many times. At present, Jinan Company is organizing implementation of 2 items of “10 key R&D Programs” of Sinopec, which are “600kt/a Counter-current moving bed reforming” and “1.40Mt/a FCC flue gas desulfurization”. 

Over the years, Jinan Company firmly established the scientific outlook on development, always adhered to the working policy of “safety first, prevention first, full hands-on and comprehensive management”, realized safe and stable production. Jinan Company was awarded honorary title of “advanced unit of safe production” many times by the state, Shandong Province or Jinan city, and was awarded “Sinopec Advanced Unit of Safe Production” for nine consecutive years. Jinan Company always adheres to the concept of “green and low-carbon development”, attaches great importance to investment and management of environmental protection. It’s successively awarded “National Environmental Protection Advanced Enterprise” title and “National Clean Production Demonstration Enterprise” title, took the lead to obtain “Sinopec Clean Production Demonstration Enterprise” title, and was awarded “Sinopec Environmental Protection Advanced Unit” for eight years. Jinan Company pays attention to promoting energy conservation and emission reduction work, was awarded “National Energy Saving Advanced Unit in Petroleum and Chemical Industry” title. Specifically, Jinan Company was awarded “National Civilized Unit” for three consecutive times. And it successively received more than 50 national titles of honor like “National May Day Certificate”, “National Advanced Enterprise of Quality and Benefit”, “National Excellent Political Work Enterprise”, “National Model Enterprise for Harmonious Labor Relationship” and so on. 

Looking forward, Jinan Company will uphold the development strategy of “green and low-carbon development” and “differentiation”, accelerates projects construction, especially the production base of heavy lubricating base oil & bright stock, effectively enhance the comprehensive processing capacity of crude oil and economic benefit, making positive contributions to make Sinopec a world-class energy and chemical company.
