Sinopec Corp. Wuhan Company (“Wuhan Company” for short) and Sinopec Assets Management Co., Ltd. Wuhan Branch (“Wuhan Assets Company” for short) are collectively called Wuhan Petrochemical. It is a large state-owned enterprise directly subordinate to Sinopec Group. Its predecessor is Wuhan Petrochemical Works, founded in 1971 and put into operation in 1977. The refinery of the Company is located in QingShan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, covering an area of 239 hectares. It is adjacent to the Yangtze River waterway to the north. The water and land transportation is very convenient. Wuhan 800,000 tpa Ethylene Project (under construction) is located in Bajifu region of Jianshe town in Hongshan District, covering an area of 294.8 hectares. 

The Company has 28 main production units with primary crude oil processing capacity of 8.5 million tons per year and comprehensive processing capacity of 6.5 million tons per year. It produces 25 kinds of main products, including gasoline (90 #, 93 #, 97 #, E90 #, E93 #, E97 #), kerosene, # 3 jet aviation fuel oil, light diesel (0 #,-10 #), naphtha, solvent oil (# 6, 120 #), cracking materials, the naphthenic acid, MTBE, special heavy oil (# 1, # 2 and # 3), fuel oil (30 #, 180 #), industrial flake sulfur, petroleum coke, polypropylene resin (powder and grain material), "BTX" (benzene, toluene, xylene ) and LPG, etc. Products are widely sold to 12 provinces and cities including Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Chongqing, etc. 

At present, the Company is focusing on the construction of 800,000 tpa ethylene project and 8 million tpa refinery upgrading project. Once completed and put into operation in the first half of 2013, the Company will become a 10-million-ton-scale integrated refining and petrochemical complex. By the end of the “12th Five-Year Plan”period, its primary refining capacity is expected to reach 10 million tpa and the ethylene production capacity is expected to be 1 million tpa, with key technical and economic indexes reaching the world advanced level.
