SINOPEC East China Branch (East China Branch for short) is an experienced company in oil and gas exploration and production and petroleum engineering service. It has an over 50 years glorious history of been administrated by Jiangsu province, ministry of geology and mineral resources, Xinxing company, and now SINOPEC. The headquarter is located in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, which belongs to China Yangtze delta economic circle. Its subsidiaries are mainly located in Jiangsu, Shanxi, Changchun, etc. The unconventional oil & gas exploration and development areas are mainly located in Heshun and Xiangning of Shanxi province, Zhijin of Guizhou province，shale gas target areas in southern marine multiple regions. The conventional oil & gas exploration and development areas are mainly located in Taizhou, Yancheng, Huai’an, Hai’an, Jurong of Jiangsu province. 

After unremitting tries and practices, we finally picked up select evaluation method for shale gas, and characteristic engineering technology including unconventional oil and gas analysis test technology, single component digital earthquakes, U & V type well drilling, fracturing transformation and development in row for unconventional oil and gas. We also picked up the conventional and unconventional explore and develop technology about fine seismic exploration technology, complex fault block, structure-lithologic reservoir stereo exploration technology, CO2 flooding to improve oil recovery technology. Small oilfield in North Jiangsu area still keeps steady increasing of crude oil production after several decades of exploitation. From the 1990s of last century, we began to prospect for oil & gas in South Songliao area beyond Jiangsu area actively. After 10 years of hard working, we made another breakthrough in oil & gas exploration at Yaoyingtai of South Songliao area in 2003. In 2005, we achieved an important milestone by discovering a large oil & gas field with hundreds of millions of tons OOIP in depression and fault level of Yaoyingtai.2008, according to the arrangement of the SINOPEC party, from national interests, we began to seek opportunities in areas of new energy which included coal-bed methane, shale gas, oil shale, flammable ice, and uranium mine during the reorganization of SINOPEC in 2008. We gradually built a professional team of SINOPEC in unconventional oil and gas exploration and production after investing several projects in Jiangsu, Xinjiang, Shanxi, Henan, Anhui, Guizhou, Chongqing, etc. 

In recent years, the fundamental development strategies of East China Branch are devote major efforts to develop unconventional gas exploration and production, further strengthen and advance petroleum engineering service, construct a harmonious system with humanism, and strive hard to attain the goal of building megaton oil & gas field. Under these strategies, we keep steadily carry on coal-bed methane, emphasis on the shale gas exploration, develop lower-Yangtze positively. We transfer the exploration and development from conventional oil & gas to unconventional oil & gas successfully. We did significant breakthrough of shale gas(straight well) and scale production of coal-bed gas. The production of conventional oil & gas is bottom out and now is increasing flood and field both. Production management, team qualification are continue improve in total. The whole company take on a new scene positively and dynamically, develop explosively, harmony and steady. 

Twelfth five-year plan time period is an strategy chance for East China Branch, who will developed greatly on business, transform totally on profession and facing huge challenges. We will be in under the leadership of the SINOPEC party, speed up the mission of energy strategy development, and adhere to the differentiation strategy and characteristic development. We will raise the flag of "Unconventionality" highly, launching the battle of shale gas break-through, produce and build coal-bed methane field, and product increase of conventional oil.
