Sinopec Chongqing SVW Chemical Co., Ltd. has put its 50,000-tonne/year special PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) resin plant into operation. The facility achieved successful startup and produced qualified products in one go. And the first batch of products have been shipped to the European market. This expansion brings the company's total PVA production capacity to 210,000 tonnes per year. The PVA plant now stands as the world's largest single-site high-end PVA production base, ranking fourth globally in total capacity.

PVA is a biodegradable, water-soluble polymer. It is usually used in facial masks, eye drop moisturizers, and water-soluble films for laundry pods. The high-end PVA grades can enhance the toughness of safety glass in automotive and high-speed train industries. Owing to its high purity and exceptional transparency, PVA is also highly adaptable to optical films and polarizers in the new energy and advanced electronic industries.
